Just look at the graphs, if it's one of those TLDR situations.
Take the screens away from your children, NOW.
Plan to read a book a month. One a day or a week is not a possibility for most people. Reading should be slow anyway.
I am reading In The Time of Butterflies about the Mirabal sisters and the Trujillo regime. Beautiful, but too important to skim (also impossible because of all the characters).
People tell me my books are fast reads. They mean it as a compliment; I am not so sure it is.
I say this with all my heart: Your smartphone is not your friend. Put it in its place as a tool, and use that scrolling time with a good book. It does not have to be a classic; in fact, nonfiction might be better for you. But please, for the love of everything wonderful, READ.
