New Year, Almost: January 3. Confused by the Headlines

 So Donald Trump has decided to be the enforcer for Venezuela. I need to get into the weeds on this one; I didn't think a president could do what he's doing. Hey, that never stopped him before!

However, if it's time to 25th amendment him, Vance sure ain't gonna lead the charge. Vance is stacking up as one of the most duplicitous people around. No surprise; his memoir was untruthful, so why stop there? 

But . . . 

hey, at home, (well, in the U.S.) the largest city now has a communist Muslim mayor whose first acts were to take away protections for Jews, shine a big light from the 9/11 site for Muslim American Heritage Month (who knew there was such a thing?), and give a speech about the "warmth of collectivism." And to top it off, he has to have the smarmiest, smuggest "smile" ever. 


Warmth of collectivism?  Are you kidding me? I don't think the millions of Russians under Stalin and Chinese under Mao who died from starvation and cold knew about this warmth and collective joy.

I do not feel protected in Georgia. 

I do feel protected by the grace of God, though. And know I am. 

The Christmas decorations are down and almost packed away to invisibility, except for the tree. I kind of like it and might let it hang out. I bought a very expensive new bed yesterday after five years of sleeping on a 40-year-old-plus mattress. I consider this purchase my "death bed" because it's the last bed I'll buy. It's a Murmaid, which is made in our area (Cleveland, TN), so I am helping local business. To make up for the strawberries I bought from CA or FL(!)

Keeping Up Appearances? David's Surprise Anointing to Be King

  Have you ever watched the show, Keeping Up Appearances? What it is. A comedy about a British woman who wants to be thought of as very high class even though her family is low class. Her name is Hyacinth Bucket but she pronounces it Bouquet. She wants everything perfect but her family works against her, and her neighbors run from her. We all know someone who wants to keep up appearances, and sometimes we do. Birdwatching

 Whose world is this, anyway? My husband came out to the deck where I was reading, thinking, and taking long pauses to listen to birds and watch them visit the feeders. Nala and Butter were keeping the the squirrels away. The cardinals, like kings, were making sure they were fed first but wrens, sparrows, finches, robins, swifts sat in the trees calling and cackling.
